Why letter signs are priced per letter
A channel letter is a small piece of metalwork: its sides are bent, welded and lit one by one. The cost grows with the height and the number of letters, so we price each letter by its height instead of by square feet.
Boxes and panels (lightboxes, flat signs, blade signs) are priced by their face area, because that is what the material and the printing cost.
What changes the price
Letter height and the number of letters, script fonts, premium colors like gold or bronze, mixing several colors or fonts, the lighting type and the way the sign is mounted (flat to the wall, on a raceway or on a backer panel).
Installation depends on the height and the wall. A NYC sign permit is needed for bigger and lit signs on many streets: our free permit check tells you in a minute.
